6am NRR:I'm glad I got out this morning, but the truth of the matter is, the only reason I got up, was because there are no coffee beans at home. Once on the bike, that was all irrelevant, I was ready to pull some turns and feel some pain.

There was still some leginess from the weekend's hikes, but what I felt the most was the soreness in my feet. I'd put that down to the pedal action using different muscles, or the same muscles in different ways, but feet being a standard contact point.

I pulled a couple of turns on the way down, and a couple on the way back. Nothing to set the world alight, but a slight increase in the work I've done in the previous few editions. Then, as we came through Brighton, I tried to organise to chick the bunch with a BikeBug-NextGen rider who'd been chopping off all morning. It was not to be, but I enjoyed the process of finding a specific rider, and trying to deliver them smoothly to the finish.
