5:45 NRR:
I thought I'd be sneaky and roll the quarter to bunch, and avoid anyone I know seeing me in my current form. Alas, there were no less than 4 mates, and many more dudes I'm well familiar with. So much for anonymous kms.

Anyway, I spent the two up trip south chatting to Dan from Artisan about patella tendinitis, he's been through the same frustrations recently.

On the way back it was single file, but not leg snapping. I moved up a few places here and there, but kept my nose out of the wind until the golden mile and round into Ormond esplanade where I did my bit in the sprint train.

I came across this video about Jens Voigt on Cycling Tips. It has Jens, inspiring music, and a quote that resonated with me.

"I refuse to get controlled by fear."

It was fear of being dropped, of judgement and shame in front of my friends that made me roll 5:45 rather than 6:00 this morning, and it shouldn't be. The HTFU way is to see fear as a challenge to be faced front on.
