St Kilda East - Yarra Boulevard - Anderson St - Westbury St - St Kilda East:
My mate Mick, whom I've known since he looked just like Kevin Arnold in the wonder years, is in need of a new bicycle, so I agreed to go with him to the Specialized Aus "Ride the Best" day up at the Boulevard, and offer my wealth of advice. Sure I could have summed up the breadth of my advice in the 260 character limit of a text message, but it was a chance to go ride bikes.

Just as I was walking down the stairs to roll across town, the rain started coming down. I took a few moments to prepare myself for a thorough soaking, then headed out.

First up Mick road a tarmac, i think it was his first experience on a road bike, certainly one of this generation of technology. Anyway we rode around the HCC crit loop, chatting, and generally getting soaked through. When we returned those, I thought we'd be done for the day, but he suggested we grab some mtb's.

So I threw some road pedals on a Stumpy FSR, he grabbed an Enduro, and we pinned some sodden trails. There's something liberating about getting someone elses bike well dirty, knowing that you're not the one who has to clean it afterwards.

Once we handed the bikes back, I checked to see if SKCC crits were on. They weren't so I needed to work out what to do with myself. I'd already ridden away from Yarra St, so I hit Anderson St for a couple of repeats, then headed for home, and my first time using the little hill opposite my house for sprint efforts (x5).
