6am NRR:
I didn't sleep well last night, which might explain my mental outlook today. In short, I questioned what I was doing, and if I was just wasting my time.

I feel I get the most benefit in form crit form from doing repeats of hill sprints, yet again, I was rolling along beach rd on the wheels of dozens of other people. So why wasn't I off doing that?

This line of thinking disappeared a little as the ride went on. Partially because I was pre-occupied with the need to do a poo (and the fact we were getting every red light wasn't helping my anxiety levels). It was also partially abated because the pace strung out the bunch, and I started to take part in the shenanigans. Into the bottom of Rickets I was in a 3 man break. Things reformed through Black Rock then I made sure it got stretched out again. Sadly I was out done by boomtime who rolled off my wheel about halfway up and put a small gap into me that I was never able to completely close.

My positioning leading into the BP sprint was a bit too forward, I made the call to cover a dangerous looking counter move, and found myself destined to hit the wind too early. Lights at Glen Huntly simultaneously saved me from that fate, and forced me to go even earlier than I feared. I launched at 95% when they changed to green, took a quick look, realised I had a gap, and then committed to trying to solo it the whole way. It felt good, and not just because I succeeded. Ok, so it was mostly because I succeeded, but there was a tiny element that was because.... no wait, yeah it was 100% because I succeeded. The one guy who made it to my wheel never came off it, the hurt of the chase had boxed him completely.

In the end it didn't feel like a complete waste of a morning, but I still have doubts that it's the best use of my time.
