St Kilda East - Yarra Boulevard - St Kilda East:Given it would be a push for me to make it to crits tonight due to a meeting, I decided to head out this morning instead. I'd hoped to get an LPL in with Steve, but he wasn't free, so I opted to stay off major roads and do a David Kelly special, Yarra Boulevard repeats.

For the first of the two laps there were two rules. Go up Yarra St on the way out and back. No one is allowed to pass.

The next lap there was a new rule to add to the previous two, 53x15, seated. As I rolled down from Walmer st I thought about what this meant for Yarra St. Over the next few rollers I decided to keep the gear, but allow standing. Even with this allowance it was brutal. How brutal? My Quark or Garmin stopped registering cadence and power because I dropped below 20rpm, I was forever mere moments away from delivering the mail or falling unceremoniously sideways, and I truly feared I was in danger of ripping the upper of my shoes off the sole.

For the return leg of that second lap I acquiesced and used the little ring and the big cogs before returning to 53x15 for the boulevard, and no handed for the final climb back up to Walmer st.

Commute & CX Shenanigans:
Even though I wasn't racing, I still headed over to Kew. I wanted to see the riders and the race, I also thought it'd be a nice night to get a few sneaky bits of trail in on the cross bike.

So why did I want to see the riders and race? When I'm removed from them and it, the spectre builds in my head until it seems like an impossible task, and thus not worth me returning to race.
