Getting a phone call at work, from an unknown number, always makes me nervous. When the caller today announced themselves as SKCC's Gaelene Snelling I assumed I was being hit up for marshal duty. Incorrect.

With Shannon Johnson doing himself a mischief by crashing early this year, SKCC's track squad for the club track champs (this saturday) was short at least one rider. Gaelene had tried DK, but he had plans, so he suggested me.

NTR: "Ok, so what would I need to do?"
GS: "Team Pursuit and Team Sprint."
NTR: "Fuck!"

I make no bones about the fact that an IP and TP scare the ever living shit out of me. Then to try and put together a team sprint effort, god that'd hurt. I said yes, because I want to help out my club, but I wasn't super confident, especially as a 3 man for the TP.

In the end the club decided to only enter us in the team sprint, and my dread turned to excitement. I've actually trained for it, and with fresh legs, think I could actually do something useful. A quick email to Hayden Bradburry and Cam Parvelleit to bags the gate, and it was on to thought about getting my disk wheel ready to go.
