St Kilda East - Mt Pleasant - St Kilda East:
It was decided, during one of the many random conversations that occurred during this ride, that spring (yep, the season) is the dastardly bad guy from old timey movies. You know the sort, the one who twirls his oiled mustache and ties damsels to train tracks. Anyway, in this day and age spring toys with emotions, and delights in the seemingly impossible situation of headwind both ways. It shows you the pretty days, then takes them away just as fast. Spring is a jerk of a season.

I feel a lot better after this ride, and I don't think it's just because turning the pedals for a few hours helped burn through some of the beers and the many dumplings that were consumed last night. Going up Burgundy St on the way home I felt almost normal. Seated, with a relatively big gear, just pushing through the first couple of layers of mental and physical resistance... it felt almost good. A few coughing fits brought that feeling crashing back to earth, but for a brief moment, like the fleeting glimpse of good weather spring gives us, everything was ok.
