6am NRR:
Tired, but determined to get some work done, that's the short version of today.

I wasn't as committed to the work as DK was, he hit St Kilda a mess, heading straight for 7/11 to get some sugar in his face to stave off the bonk nausea.

So while Dave put himself in the box, on the front, all day, I came through for turns sporadically. A few times on the way down when the tail wind and Dave allowed me to get there without having to go into full sprint mode. A few times on the way back, made a lot harder into the head wind, but in some ways easier. You could guarantee the rider you were passing wasn't going to keep the gas on and leave you swinging. The presence of Tommy Leaper was pretty re-assuring to me. He's so smooth and consistent with his work that I was always willing to roll through behind or in front of him, despite knowing he has the power to tear me apart.

Coming to the sprint I thought about sitting up and rolling though with the bunch, but I'd said a single word, a proper noun, "Paully", and it committed me to holding it above threshold for a while longer. I knew Paul Adler would understand the tone in my voice as I rolled past him along Ormond Esplanade. It said "Paully, I'm coming past, you should get on my wheel because I'm going to lead you into this sprint.". That tiny amount of commitment to a mate on a training ride got me the moment I'm proudest of, not because 10 seconds over 1,000W is a good number, but because I went despite the pain in my legs.
