6am NRR:
Faced with the choice of waking up to the sound of my alarm and getting in 50km with the bunch, or waking shortly after to the sound of the bin men and not riding and being (more) grumpy all day, I chose the former.

Compared to last week I sat in and enjoyed the tow, but I suppose I rolled a turn or two because it gets boring sitting on wheels, blinded every 0.3 of a second by by red flashy lights.

So this ride sounds uninteresting, a wash for training, and really not worth making it to 3 (short) paragraphs. You're right, it is... until we hit the golden mile. There were several bunches ahead of us, things got stretched, things got messy, and by the time I got my fat arse around the turn into Ormond Esplanade it was obvious that the guys I'd just ridden around had dropped the wheel badly. So I gassed it into the 200m void left by DK towing a half dozen riders up the gentle rise. I put 700 odd watts down and dragged skinny up to and a bit past the Elwood park lights, then flapped my elbow with the vigour of a dying chicken.

The Dawns wasn't available for sneaky lunchtime lake laps, so instead we went for a merry jaunt post work to acquire some Phở for our faces. Extras and food, a match made in the kitchen.
