I toyed with the idea of going long today, it felt like the right mid week training, and I wanted to test my legs again, to set some times, to challenge other riders and gauge where I am. Bing (welcome to the blogging world!) wasn't around, my chance of a "win" were greatly improved, though far from certain... Bensley was rolling.

I decided against it, and instead turned at Mordialloc for a number of reasons. Mostly it was due to a heave schedule of work meetings, I wanted to get in to work and get cracking on the day rather than risk rolling in after 9am hot and flustered. What I think deserves being dragged kicking and screaming into the light was a smaller reason. I was on race wheels, and feared not being good enough and having zero excuses. That's a shit reason, the prospect of failure shouldn't even come into it.

Anyway, I went short, rolled some turns, made an effort on my favourite hill out of Black Rock (but came up a 15m short and soft pedalled the top... waiting... waiting... waiting... for someone to come through. It was kind of cool that it took so long, obviously my effort had stretched some legs. Then, Jez Hunt whipped through in his usual counter attack style and the pain came flooding back to my legs.
