6am NRR:
Today, like yesterday, contained a test of the resolve. While yesterday it was pushing through the pain in the darkness, today it was convincing myself to ride.

I got up, ready for another lovely morning (weather wise) on the bike, only to have a big, fat drop of rain land squarely on my nose as I stepped over the threshold with my bike. If I was 10m down the road, already pedaling I wouldnt have through twice, but given I hadn't even swung my leg over, it gave me pause and I hid under a tree while I summoned some fortitude.

Thankfully the rain was just a passing shower and when the small bunch at BP rolled out it was an easy pace. A pace that should have seen everyone two up, instead it was single file for the first 10 riders. As I'd struck up a decent conversation with Dave Tozer I was unwilling to join the conga line, he and I will be racing together soon, so sat out in the wind, and kept talking. Eventually Dave got angsty and we rolled up past everyone hiding in the gutter and over the front of the bunch.

On the way back a few more were willing to work, and after a few turns I opted out to take the pressure off of my tired legs. I've had 3 crappy nights of sleep, 3 hard days on the bike (if you include today) and 2 long days at work. I really didn't want to do more turns... well until we got to the sprint, then I was fairly enthused to ride fast.
