I've only had one regular commute this week, the extra few kms are nice but it's the time time to think and change of scenery that I'm digging the most.

I've continue to think about the tempo I can set on a hill, but that I'm having difficulty recreating it on the flat. A few theories have emerged, firstly that I haven't done a lot of speed/flat work. Secondly is to do with the differences between wind resistance and gravity, and how that effects the resistance on a pedal stroke and thus the way you can put power down through a longer arc of each crank revolution.

It lead me to try and find some work I'd seen on track (athletics) sprinting, I haven't been able to put my hand on the one that I recall, but this one (link) is still an interesting look into sports science.
