Northside Ride:
I hooked up with Mal, Tim, and Paul for a roll to Mordi and back. The pace was never hot as both Mal and I raced this afternoon, thankfully the coffee was.

CX Melburn:
It was hard to know what to expect before what is really my first CX race. The ones I did in Canadia on the MTB were... well on the MTB, and the DDCX prologue were way too short to be an indicator.

So lining up, seeded in around the 30's I was nervous, the unknown does that to me. By the end of my first lap I'd learnt a lot, most importantly that mud and grass caked tyres don't hook up on tarmac as well as road tyres. It wouldn't be the first time I spent some time on the deck either, later in the race as I was starting to find a rhythm I decided to play chicken with another rider. Two abreast into a corner with only a single line. Neither of us braked and the result was bikeless forays into the midst of a gravel pit.

So apart from the broken seat, bent hanger, a few small tears to my skinsuit, and a mid 40th "finish". Quote marks because I was pulled from course when the leaders approached to lap us. A shame really as I felt I had some left in the tank, and I hoped my crashes were behind me.

Photo totally thieved from Mal.
