Vic Masters Track Champs:
Sitting on the trainer, going through the oddly reassuring regular warm up, Nick pointed out that Brett Rollinson was MMAS2. The same feelings I had at the 2010 SKCC Trophy race swept through me. Relief and confidence.

I went hard out of the gate, dropping into the TT bars and moderating the effort after half a lap.

I was afraid I wasn't going hard enough in those next 375m, but as I came through for 500m to go and Carl gave me the "lift the pace" sign and I asked for more power/speed from my legs, it didnt feel like there was any change in pace, just in the level of pain I felt. The final 3/4 of a lap I was pedalling squares. I tried to keep on top of the gear, to keep my legs going straight up and down and to keep the bike flat / straight.

I crossed the line in 1:10.542. I'd won MMAS1 but missed fastest time of the day. Chris Ray had done a 1:10.324 and Brett Rollinson stopped the clock at 1:10.108.

I'm happy with my time, it was a fair way off the 1:08.99 I'd hoped for, but it was still a damn sight better than the 1:13.604 I did at Metros. Yes I'm a little disappointed I came so close to, but failed to beat Chris and Brett. Fastest time of the day would have been nice, but it's hard to hear those thoughts over the sound of the gold medal around my neck.
