I get the suspicion that I'm starting to rest on my laurels. They're not the greatest laurels ever, but they're enough that I'm confident no ride I wish to do will kill me. I can race crits and have fun, I can race sprints and have fun, Kilos will suck at any fitness, but completing them is never an issue. So yeah, motivation to do anything training wise seems quite low during the week.

Well fuck that, today it was time to go play on North Road Ride, and see if I could improve the timing of my road sprint.

The headwind heading south and the generally relaxed pace of Wednesdays made for a delightful start to the morning. I did note that when I got out of the saddle that my lats were a touch tender.

Aaaanyway, northbound with a tail wind was an absolute giggle, we hit 65km/h rolling into Sandringham, and by "we" i mean whoever was on the front pulling turns got us to 65, I couldn't tell who it was from my position halfway down the bunch.

Aaaanyway (take 2), the sprint. Caught by the lights at Glenhuntly David Kelly ripped it off the line and got a gap. I sat on wheels and launched hard.... but it took until the traffic lights to reel him in, too late for the "win". My kick wasn't perfect, I feel I kicked from too close to the wheel in front and lost some of the benefit in acceleration through a draft.

Talking of wins, I should admit that for all these years I've never known there was a line painted on the road before BP, perhaps knowing the official sprint line will make winning easier.
