6am NRR:
My pre-ride pep talk to myself was all about me taking control of my pain. Being the one who dictated it, and more would be better.

Well bugger me if a train of total rush boys didn't just go and ruin that party by smacking it into the wind on the front, leaving me around 5th/6th wheel wondering why the world hated me so much. I think, and bear in mind this is a pretty generous estimate, that I managed to once, maaaaaaaybe twice see the wind at the very front, that's counting going down the Nepean.

The first group on the road was down to around 10 riders in Elwood, the pace, wind and repeated lights had significantly whittled down the bunch down from the 50+ that started at North Rd. No one had any any energy or motivation to contest the sprint once they realised coming off a wheel felt like it required a tripling of power output. Still I snuck a quick move around everyone and got to practice my victory salute. This week it's crossing the line looking completely shelled.
