I chatted with Carl last night after the lifting of heavy things. My chipper mood was likely the result of a physical and emotional high (endorphins and pride) after chalking up new PRs. That chipper mood resulted in the conversation being quite forward looking, and me suggesting something horribly silly but at the same time thoroughly sensible, trainer sessions.

My worries about my performance in the hills and the need to do more were somewhat quashed by a simple question. How much of your racing is going to be in the hills? The answer is simple, not a lot really.

At this point the plan is looking something like this.

Train for threshold power increases in the lead up to the Melbourne to Warrnambool.

Train for peak power in the lead up to track/crit season.

That leaves the idea of XC racing and the Otway hanging out there somewhere in limbo, right now they're so far in the future that it's hard to contemplate them. It's possible I might not do the Otway, in which case I can really focus on that peak power idea and thus chase results on the track and doing one thing great rather than many things mediocre does appeal.
