It's definitely still winter, the paths we loop around were almost completely devoid of commuters, the one bloke Justin and I saw looked far from happy to be riding in the rain.

Talking of rain there is more water about than I've seen in 5-6 years. I note that it's possible that I didn't ride through all of those winters and thus missed seeing the river swollen and threatening to encroach on a few sections of trail.

It goes without saying (yet watch as I say it anyway), the trails were sloppy. I'm sure a semi slick would have been akin to suicide, but the knobby tyres I had on never left me feeling confident about traction. Unlike the dryer months fitness wasn't the limiter for speed, skill and confidence were. I was kind of happy it was that way, I've been feeling pretty flat, I'm probably just behind the 8 ball on sleep. I'll try and address that by the weekend, maybe even skipping Jeff's tomorrow, but we'll see how I feel in the morning.
