A bloody gorgeous morning, and just as pretty looking day. I tried to pull a sickie mid way through the day, but no one was convinced once they saw my longing looks out the window.

Monos are still coming along, they're not perfect but today I managed a couple that lasted around a hundred metres each.

It should be self evident that to do a night mountain bike ride it is vital to have charged your light battery. As you've probably guessed I completely forgot to charge mine, and hoped that despite it's age it would still hold it's claimed 5-6 hours of charge. It didn't.

Just before the pipe bridge it died, from there through to Studly Park I rode behind others, trying hard to stay loose and judge the trail by their silhouette. A couple of times I started to drift back off their wheel. Fighting all logic, going against your natural reaction to slow down, and instead chasing back into that inky darkness was unnerving.
