Hell ride: (kinda)
Oh man, I couldn't even walk this morning, trying to get me, my bike, and the remains of my breakfast down the slippery stairs in road cleats was almost the end of me.

With no ability to get out of the saddle and crank I did my best to sit towards the front of the bunch, but was resigned to getting swamped and thus being pushed back.

Sadly the inevitable happened, a set of light split the bunch around Bonbeach, I really didn't want to chase but we had a decent size bunch so just presumed we'd get back on, so I got about the job of doing my bit. I was a bit pissy that only a few of us were pulling turns, then someone mentioned that the four of us had pulled away and the pain kind of made sense.

Working hard through Seaford we were gaining ground on the bunch, another set of lights decided to seal the deal, ensuring we'd never get back on. As we rolled into Frankston we resigned ourselves to turning early and catching the bunch as it came back through. For me the ride was more about coffee with mates afterwards than any particular effort or duration. Still I felt pretty dirty having not done the full Mt Eliza loop.

Sadly this view of Hopes Rise was not because were were off the front.
