Flat Hill Dirt Crits:
I got my excuses out and upfront early, donated blood, still sore from the deadlifts, not feeling the flow, the list went on. Still, there I was on the line without any real idea how any of it would effect me.

Racing was mixed up tonight, half the race in the normal direction, then a restart to go around the other way. For ease of retelling lets consider them two discrete races.

Off the line I was in around 7th, and by a lap in something felt a bit off. It was hard to put a finger on it, but in hindsight I'd describe it as breathing a bit harder, heart going a bit faster, and feeling like I was missing a bit of the speed endurance I've come to expect. The likely culprit was losing a pint of A positive yesterday, but it was interesting to note that both races I wasn't far off the people I expected to be near and or not far off.

By the end I was somewhat shagged [pronounced shag-ed], I'd gone all out on the last 2 laps of the second race to ensure I stayed clear of the roadie behind, and to see if I could catch James Dickey and Brett Kellett where weren't to far in front.

I believe I came 5th in both races, with Rohin Adams, Duncan Murray, Brett Kellett and James Dickey in front of me (most likely in that order).

I should mention Justin, who seemed to have made it his mission to smash it off the start then rail me into the undergrowth. Perhaps try isn't the right word, as the grass wrapped around my cassette will attest he succeeded more than once.
