6:00am NRR:
It's getting to that time of "the season" where I want to start working on some more speed, so with this in mind I rolled up to the 6am NRR planning on 2 efforts. Why 2? I dunno, it sounded painful, but not devastating.... alight shut up, it was early when I thought it out and I hadn't had a coffee.

I rolled down in the bunch, the pace seemed to be up, but I felt ok. Around the roundabout I moved up and got my first effort into Mentone.

With a minute or so rest I decided on the 2nd effort, hit the front at the bottom of the Rickets Point "climb" and try to stay there the whole way up. Nice in theory, fucking painful in practice. I hit the front a little early, was in worlds of hurt by the flat spot and had been attacked by Hayden Kerr by 2/3 of the way up.I did what I could to minimise the damage, but by the top I was only in 4th. I take a tiny bit of pride/hope from Hayden's question... "have you been training?". Sure it may have been a common pleasantry, but I'll pretend his voice was tinged with fear and respect and thus treat it as a compliment. I of course denied any training had been done.

The other option for my morning ride was head up to Kinglake with Mario, Gavin, Alex and a couple of others. Why you ask am I talking about a ride I didn't do? We'll there was an incident involving a car and the guys. No one is seriously injured, some decent bruising to Gav's already beaten body, the same cant be said for his bike.
