Jeff's:
Woke up to howling winds and driving rain at Mt Hotham, so decided to pull the pin and head back to Melbourne. I decided to get a session in with Jeff so the day wasn't a complete write off.
I'm not going to pretend that I can recall all the sets and reps from tonight, below is a basic outline of what was done, I'm sure Jeff will have then transcribed perfectly soon. Basically I had a choice, leave the brain on, risk cracking like every other KB session in recent history but have a perfect recollection of the sets and reps or turn the brain off and get it done.
I turned the brain off, most of the time I didn't even notice other people, all that mattered was working on form, getting reps done and that beeping clock.
KB Session with 24kg KB, 1 minute on, 30 seconds off.
2 arm swings
1 arm swings
jerks
snatches
cleans
1 legged dead lifts
clean and jerks
We did two lots of swings, and we repeated the cleans between sets as a "rest".
A slightly modified technique spurred by Jeff's romantic rendezvous with Steve Cotter was taught and employed. It seemed to help keep my back from self destructing, but my forearms/grip strength was sorely tested.
So I'm happy that I survived a session with the 24, I may not have done the maximum reps, but it's a session done where during the on time I was always holding the weight, it didn't touch the ground, and that's a start in the right direction.
