It was cold and my legs lacked any punch. Not surprising considering the weekend they went through.

D: 28.8km
A: 200m

The physiology of my own body is fascinating. It's started by thinking about how various movements or exercises have caused tightness and thus pain during massage. This train of thought has inevitably led to thoughts about how the muscles operate in use.

Between bouts of screwing my face up and trying to find a happy place I asked questions about the various muscles and their operation.

So for tightening in my Iliotibial band (ITB) it's about the Tensor Fascia Latae (TFL) and the Gluteus medius up the top, and the Vastus Lateralis down near the knee. It seems that my poor ITB, which has for so long been accused of everything under the sun, is just a bystander to the muscles around it.

I thankfully didn't get close to spewing like last week, but I did use some naughty words.

Allegedly my leg muscles are relatively well balanced "for a cyclist", while I would prefer to hear such things from women, I'll take it where I get it. Now to find out what that means.
